Myth and reality about Anxiety Disorder


Myth 1 : Anxiety is caused by a bad experience or stress

Reality : Why someone feels anxious is only due to bad situation or it can be caused by any reason.

Anxious exists in a person due to various reason . We cannot assure anxiety is affected in me due to facing a bad situation or stress. While neither a particular level of stress nor a critical situation cannot cause stress . Anxiety could be a thought of the anticipation about future , appraisal about uncertainty or how to handle any such uncertainty situation.

 Myth 2 : Anxiety can cause damage to the body

Reality : Actually anxiety causes only physical symptoms , these will fade.

Anxiety does not cause damage to the body . Some physical illness such as heart palpitations, rapid breathing and tightness in the chest area . A research shows that the anxiety disorder stays 20-30 minutes before the physical symptoms fade. Intense level of physical arousal cannot stay longer time in our body , we fight / flight to overcome out of the danger. Sometimes these physical symptoms can be misunderstood with the heart problem , so it is always to look out for the medical examination.

Myth 3 : Anxiety attacks will make you faint

Reality : Anxiety can cause dizzy or over tiredness , which is misunderstood with faint.
When blood pressure decreases in the body a faint can occur . The reason for the faint may be loss of electrolyte in the body . But anxiety causes high blood pressure this could make the person dizzy which often mistaken by the people that they will faint. During anxiety we hyperventilate to provide more oxygen to the brain as a result we feel dizzy or more tiered.

 
Myth 4 : You could easily recognize an anxiety or anxiety affected person.

Reality : The fact is that you definitely not know person around you suffers from anxiety disorder.

Without knowing to you , your acquaintance may be undergoing an anxiety problem and might be taking treatment , so it may often go unnoticed by others . Certain behaviours like withdrawal from the social activities, avoidance , reassurance thinking can reflect the anxiety or any other mental illness to the outside world.


Myth 5 : Anxiety People should avoid a stressful situation

Reality : While facing the fear situation or any danger situation confidently will reduce anxiety.

Managing anxiety is different for different people. Some individuals like to face the fearful or stressful situation dissolving the fear or phobia ,It is good to seek advice on how to overcome phobia or fear . But continue with feeling fear and not willing to face the situation may strengthen the fear.


Myth 6 : Anxiety will just go away

Reality : Anxiety doesn't usually resolve itself , needs a doctor assistant.

It is not ideal that anxiety can go off easily . With your self support you might be able to solve the anxiety disorder. Even though it is advised to seek self help from the doctor for the better and better assistance.


Myth 7 : Telling people that anxious feeling will pass calms them down

Reality : There are certain phrases you must avoid

Others include, 'Just get on with it,' 'Stop worrying,' 'Why don't you just think differently about it,' 'Snap out of it,' 'Don't panic yourself' and 'Remain calm'."


Myth 8 : Medication is not worth doing

Reality : Medication helps to reduce the risk of the anxiety disorder.

Medication help to reduce the risk of the anxiety disorder. It helps to stabilize your metabolism and reduce the risk of anxiety disorder.


Myth 9 : Those suffering from anxiety disorder feel nervous all time

Reality : You could be confident but still undergoing anxiety problem

Anxiety is different in various person . We have a false hope that people who always feel nervous has greater chance to get affected or undergoing anxiety problem . But those who are confident can also have anxiety .


Myth 10 : People cannot recover from the anxiety disorder

Reality : With the proper treatment anxiety disorder can be cured completely.

Anxiety disorder could be resolved completely or a full recovery is possible. A proper doctor consult is important to get through or setback from the anxiety problem.
